EAGLES FLIGHT
The main focus point of the 'Eagles Flight' programme was team bonding. We were split into random teams when playing a board game, in which we had to get from one end of the board to the other, and this could only be achieved by teams working together. Teams were faced with a number of obstacles which had to be overcome by making cautious decisions which affected how far you moved along the board, or if you moved at all.
Each set of teams were allocated a set number of supplies, which had to be used up in order to move along the board. Roles were allocated among the team members such as supply manager, traders and team leader etc... It was the role of the team trader to trade items with other teams, in hope that both teams would come to an agreement and both profit from the exchange. On my team, I was the "supply manager", meaning I needed to make sure my team had the correct amount of supplies.
The aim of the game was to gain as much 'gold cards' as possible, before returning to the start point. By the end of the game, the team with the most cards won. Unfortunately I was on the losing side, but still enjoyed the experience all the same.

MINI COMPANY
In hope of helping us to develop our 'Mini Companies', a Guest speaker was invited into our school, to give us additional information regarding our companies. She spoke to our year group as a whole, producing a slideshow to teach us about the importance of the project, and how it can help us in the future. She also spoke of the awards available to us if we work hard with this and produce a product or service worthy of winning the Student Enterprise competition.
Her advice was very helpful for me, as I'm sure it was for others in the room too. She helped with possible ideas, which we could use and eventually develop into our own Mini Company. For others who may have already had an idea in mind, myself included, she helped us finalise our ideas.
She discussed previous winners of the competition also, which gave us all a great insight into the types of ideas they are looking for, and how to excel in the competition. In all, I learned a lot from her speech, and will use this additional information to improve my Mini Company.

Hamper Packing for SVP
On Tuesday the 19th of December, I took part in hamper packing for St Vincent de Paul. My year was split into 12 teams and each team was lead by two fifth year students. Every team had 20 hampers to pack. The supplies were laid out around the sports hall and we had a list of what each hamper needed to have inside. We filled the boxes with items such as biscuits, beans, cereal, peas, soup, sweets, ketchup, bacon and lots more. The hampers were then sealed and ready to be delivered to families. I think the hamper packing was a great exercise for teamwork as we all worked well together to fill all of the boxes. I also think it was really rewarding to be giving back to our community and helping out some families in need this Christmas.
